Sara Lee and I sat down on January 1 and decided on a good list of Resolutions for her. Here is how she is doing:
1) To look cute at all times. This, she is accomplishing beautifully! She looks cute when she is eating, sleeping, or simply sitting. She has mastered that resolution.
2) Potty outside or on her pad. Another success! She does a wonderful job of letting me know, or if everyone is too busy, she quietly sneaks off to her pad to do her duty.
3) To not snarl at family memebers as much. We are almost there on this one! The only one she gives a hard time to is the nine year old of the family. Maybe because it is the only one Sara Lee feels she can control?
4) To get along with the big yellow dog. Again, another success!! OK, so they are not best buddies, but they co-exist nicely. We also invite a neighbor dog to come in a play at times, and Sara is not fond of Oreo at all. Luckily Oreo does not let Sara's heel nipping bother him. But each time Oreo comes in, Sara is not so pushy....I think that is a success.
5) Not barking at, and/or nipping at strangers. OK, Sara is not perfect yet! But I can tell that she is less stressed and more curious with strangers. And after all, if the big yellow dog can bark when the door bell rings, Sara should be able, too?? But she is trying, and after I have her calmed down, she will let the stranger pet her.
The good news also is that she went to visit my Mom in Lafayette and had her babysit with Sara Lee for a few hours. By the time I got back, Sara was her best buddy. She became an instant lap sitter. It was a good experiment to see how quickly she could warm up and love. Now do not get me wrong, Sara was thrilled when I walked through the door. But she has such a stong ability to love, she will make an awesome pet. Trust is a big thing with Sara, and I think that is something that will just take time, like it has for us.
Sara Lee is being fostered near Indianapolis, IN. She is about 9-1/2 years old and weighs 7-1/2 pounds.
Please consider giving Sara Lee a forever home. After all, everybody does not like something, but nobody does not like.... You cannot imagine how much she would love you!

I took this pic as I was heading out the door. After I told Sara that she had to stay home and I'd be he soon, she went over and sat down by Addison. This the closest she's ever laid down next to her. Twice in the last week the two looked like they were going to play together. There was a long stare down, and then when Addy dropped down on her front paws with her hind in the air, Sara walked away. It happened again a few days ago and after a very long stare down Sara bared her teeth. I spoke to Sara sternly then she went after Addison. One gruff growl by Addy and Sara retreated. She knew she was in over her head! I would so love for Sara to get along with other dogs. Still a work in progress.
They walk nicely together and when they are in the yard, Sara doesn't go too far from Addy. But that's the extent of it.
My brother is living with us temporarily so I have him put Sara in a mud room with a gate up. But Sara will jump it if she wants to (most of the time, she doesn't). I have tried recently feeding them in the laundry room together (separate bowls of course) while I sit in there to see how well they mix. They do fine - but I don't leave the room.
Sara is also getting better with new people coming into the house. But she can pick up on who's afraid of her and she won't back down. My 18 year old Niece was over Christmas eve and was afraid of Sara. It's a good thing she had on combat boots because Sara went after her ankles. I picked Sara up quickly and told her no, then the 3 of us sat on the couch together. Danyel could pet Sara then and I could tell Sara felt bad about her naughtiness.
Please help sponsor Sara Lee as she continues to learn her social graces. She is a lovely dog, getting over shyness and the aggression that sometimes comes with it!

Joy! Joy! Joy!
That's what this little lady is all about. Now that she is settled in to our home, and is used to the big yellow dog, Sara Lee is a very happy girl!
She struts around when she gets a treat and loves to go get her squeaky toy and will bring it to anyone that will play with her. She still chases down the big kids in the house, but mostly with a happy, wagging tail. What she does the most however, is really love her foster mom. So much that she will try to protect her from any strangers that come into the house.
Sara would love a home with maybe one person, or two would be good too. But all she wants for Christmas is to be loved.
Sara is a great lap dog and loves to follow her foster mom around. She will talk to you when you mention a walk or a treat, with short little whines and yips. It is soooo cute!!
Wouldn't Santa love to bring Sara Lee home for Christmas? Sara Lee would love that too!

Sarah Lee survived Thanksgiving with so many people coming and going. She is doing very well in our home. She is still very territorial and leary of strangers. She will give anyone new that comes a hearty chewing out. She is also a 'heal nipper' if anyone startles her. We are working on that.
She will now allow our immediate family members to pick her up, but she's not always happy about it. Other than that, she's very sweet and loving. She is doing wonderful with potty training and will go on a potty pad if no one lets her out soon enough. She's most happy in someone's lap and will allow an occasional belly rub.
She is an amazing leash walker and knows which side of a tree to go on to not get wrapped up. For being a geriatric, she can make the mile and a half walk a day and is usually leading the effort. She still has plenty of spunk and sassiness for her age.
She is currently being fostered in the Indianapolis area. She is about 9-1/2 years old and weighs about 7.5 pounds.

Hi, everyone! I am Sara Lee. I moved to the Indianapolis area to find my Forever Home. I found out recently that I am not really too fond of dogs that are smaller than me (I am 7.5 lbs), but I am OK with bigger dogs. I would probably be just as happy as the 'only', because I love being the center of attention!
I like to lounge around in my foster Mom's lap and either watch TV or read a good book (LOL). Anyway, I do like time with my people.
I mean, I am OK with bigger dogs and cats, but I am not too fond of little kids or dogs smaller than me. They just make me too nervous!
So if you are looking for a little girl to watch over you and be the center of your world, maybe I am the one!

Hello, my name is Sara Lee. I am a 9 yr old Yorkie. I weigh 6.5 lbs; I am a very little girl. I was adopted about 2 years ago but had to come back to the Angels because my owner got ill and could not take care of me any longer and wanted me to find a good home.
I am looking for my new forever home. However, now here is NW Ohio at YorkieLane. I will be spending awhile here while looking for a family that needs me to take care of them! I was very scared at first but am settling in nicely. In the meantime, I have lots of foster siblings to keep me company. But I really, really want to find a home of my very own!
I would prefer a quiet home, where we can spend long days keeping each other company. Yes, that would be my ideal home!
You cannot imagine how much I will love you!

Hello, my name is Sara Lee. I am a 7yr old Yorkie. I weigh 4.5 lbs; I am a very little girl. I came to the Angels because my owner got ill and could not take care of me any longer and wanted me to find a good home.I am very one-person oriented, but once I get used to my surroundings I open up more to everyone. So far my foster brother and I have gotten along great and I do not mind the kitty cat either. I am scared of storms and get very anxious and nervous but as long as I know I am safe I will do okay.
My potty training is coming along pretty well and I am a fast learner about the whole process. My foster family lets me out several times a day and so I do not have to hold it for very long. I really enjoy doggie walks and get excited when asked to go bye-bye.
My foster mommy says that I am a very sweet little girl and that I would make someone a very good forever pet. If you are interested in adopting me please contact the Angels by filling out an application. I so hope to hear from you!
Sara Lee is being fostered in the Indianapolis area. She walks well on a leash and does not require a fenced yard (although one is always appreciated). She would do best in a home without a lot of visitors. Indy area applicants will have first preference.
